The Argentine portion of Iguazu Falls National Park offers visitors the most extensive network of trails and pathways, providing an intimate and multifaceted experience of the falls. Despite its larger tourist infrastructure, the Argentine park is geographically smaller than its Brazilian counterpart, covering 67,720 hectares compared to Brazil’s 185,262 hectares. Located just 18 kilometers from Puerto Iguazú, the park is easily accessible from this city, which serves as the region’s primary hub for accommodation. Travelers often pass through Puerto Iguazú when planning to visit both the Argentine and Brazilian sides of the falls.
For those arriving by air, Puerto Iguazú is approximately a 1 hour and 50-minute flight from Buenos Aires. Bus travel is also an option, though it typically involves a journey of around 20 hours.

The Argentine side of Iguazu National Park operates from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (18:00 hs). However, entry to the park is permitted only until 4:30 p.m.
During the Christmas and New Year holidays (December 24-25 and December 31-January 1), the park maintains its regular operating hours without changes.

The Brazilian side of Iguazu Falls, established as a national park in 1939, is significantly larger than its Argentine counterpart, spanning approximately 180,000 hectares—three times the size of the Argentine park. When combined with the Argentine side, the Parque Nacional do Iguaçu offers a comprehensive and stunning panoramic view of the Iguazu Falls.
The Parque Nacional do Iguaçu on the Brazilian side features a single primary circuit, extending approximately 1500 meters. While seemingly short, this section can take around 2 hours to complete due to the continuous and captivating views of the falls, encouraging frequent stops for photographs and appreciation of the scenery.
At the circuit’s conclusion lies a highlight of the Brazilian park: a vantage point just over 100 meters from an impressive 200-meter waterfall, where visitors can experience the refreshing spray. Rain ponchos are available for purchase along the route to protect clothing and electronic devices.
To reach the circuit’s starting point, visitors must take a bus from the park entrance. After purchasing tickets, proceed to the designated bus area on the right. Buses typically depart every 20-30 minutes. The bus makes three stops: the first for the Macuco Safari (highly recommended), the second at the beginning of the main circuit entrance, and the final stop at the circuit’s end, where an elevator provides access to a platform with the best views of the falls.
The path itself is not difficult, but it does include several stairs. For those wishing to avoid stairs, skipping the second stop and proceeding directly to the end, where an elevator is available, is an option. At the end of the circuit, a shopping center offers a variety of souvenirs, including caps, t-shirts, and backpacks. All major credit and debit cards are accepted.
